It amazes me that the same Greek word "helper" is used once in a verse about a wife being her husband's "helper" and again in a verse about God being our "Helper".

Just think, God is OUR Helper!

God helped me, in response to your prayers, as I walked through my tiny illness in March. (I am now feeling WONDERFUL again!)

But we need to remember that God helps us HIS way -- which sometimes isn't exactly the way we would choose. For me, God was helping me either by allowing me to get sick in the first place or just by showing me something while I was sick.

Getting sick was the "speed bump" I needed. I had been pushing too hard and I even knew it. In fact, I'd mentioned it to several friends; but I didn't know what to do about it!

God, in His mercy, helped spare my overall health, by allowing me to get sick. And, while I was down, He helped me understand a bit more about balance.

If you are reading this and taking it personally, please DO assume that He is trying to get your attention about something. Maybe there is a flutter in your spirit that you don't know how to understand, or, like me, you can "see a problem brewing," but are unclear about how to stop it or what to do differently. If so, God IS your Helper! May I pray with you?

Father, We yield ourselves to YOU! We want what YOU want for us. Show us today how to think about the things that are threatening to rob our peace. We trust YOU. We love YOU. We are YOURS. Amen!
